Short description- in case u r in a hurry

I had heard about Soho house at my workplace from colleagues who are members here.

For the uninitiated, Soho House is a hotel chain and group of private members’ clubs aimed at those in the fashion, arts and media. It started in London & is now present in many countries of the world.

It’s a very interesting concept in which people become members either by invitation or by going through a long process of selection. The members can use the services of the house & can stay at the different properties around the world at very good rates & of course be assured of a standard service & quality. Also, they have lower membership rates for younger talented people do that the club does not become a rich old man’s gathering.

Unlike the Raj Era clubs, there r no archaic restrictions on dressing & footwear (open footwear, closed footwear etc etc). People cannot trade their membership here, contrary to the practice in many old clubs.

The staff is young, energetic, warm & vibrant, unlike the grumpy, tip seeking, not bothered kind of ‘waiters’ that I have come across in many old school clubs. The staff at SOHO house talks to a customer at the same level rather from a level below – that itself is so refreshing. Reminded me of the staff at andaz hotel, delhi.

Cecconi restaurant is the only one which outsiders (non members) can access. It has a regular restaurant like booking option.

The restaurant has two sections – indoor air conditioned section & a top covered outdoor section from where you can catch a glimpse of the Arabian Sea.

The vibe of the place was fab. The chatter lovely. Nothing was formal. Yet it was not like a cafe.

The menu card is a 1 pager.

We loved our seat in the open area.

Loved the food.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

We started the evening with Woodfired wild mushroom pizza with truffle shavings on the top. The pizza base was quite like a naan, which had to be eaten fresh, otherwise would become chewy. The topping was made interesting with

shavings of black truffle. The guy garnished the pizza with truffle shavings in front of us, on the table.

The flavours of the truffle were robust and did magic to the senses. the wild mushrooms were excellent in terms of flavours and textures. super love this pizza. Overall a very nice experience.

To compare, We had black truffle & wild mushroom toast at romano. The flavors there were in a different league.

Rate the pizza at cecconi 4.25/5

The next dish we tried was burrata. It was Perfect in terms of texture (soft yet firm outside & creamy in the center), it had perfect seasoning & tasted very good with the baby tomatoes. The burrata at romano was few notches higher & the tomato with freshly made pesto was outstanding. Rate the burrata here at 4/5.

Lamb chops were medium rare as requested. They were super juicy, intense, had meaty flavours. overall the meat pieces had a nice balance of Meat and fat. loved the taste and the seasoning. Overall, a joyful experience. Rate it 4.25/5

For dessert we had Lemon cheesecake. It was very good. It was not too sweet and had a tinge of salt in it that beautifully balanced the Taste. The texture was soft and creamy. The berry compote was sweet & sour and had a nice flavor. It was a tad on the sweeter side. Rate the dish 4/5

For drink We had a beetroot & apple juice. It was unusual, not too sweet & very good to taste. Rate it 4/5

The MMM cocktail with a mango base had the alcohol badly overpowering the fresh mango base, to the extent that the flavors & taste of mango were almost non existent. It was like a thick random shake with alcohol in it. Rate it 2/5.

Overall rating of food & beverages at cecconi, SOHO house averages out to 3.75/5. Just the food averages out to 4.1/5

From a hardcore foodie’s perspective, Romano is any day better, similarly priced as SOHO house, not too far from Juhu. The only positive that cecconi has is the sea facing tables (u get that if you reach early) & a very cool vibe overall, unlike the formal fine dine environment at romano.
