Short Description – in case u r in a hurry:

Blue Door café really has a blue door. The restaurant is situated in the First floor. One has to go up there thru a nice staircase. It is known as a Breakfast café  – they serve all day breakfast. Noon onwards till  evening, this turns into family restaurant & they serve a wide range of Contnental food.

The restaurant has Nice ambience. It has an open, see thru kitchen & a bar wall in one corner of the Dining room. There is a Fine art Gallery upstairs (I was told) where Paintings r sold. The Dining Hall wall is somewhat set up like an art gallery.

Nice soft music was being played in the morning hours.

They had English speaking waiting staff. The guys were much seasoned & better than the usual staff found in such mid range restaurants in Delhi NCR. Must mention this – I ordered a drink that needs stirring. Else sedimentation sets in. As I was eating, a server walked up & asked ’May I’ & started stirring the drink. He left the stirrer in the glass. I was impressed by this attention to detail & the passion with which hospitality was extended.

As mentioned above, food here was way better than at All American Diner (that serves average food & where even the servers have such indifferent attitude). While people queue in the mornings for breakfast at AAD, this one being newer & better barely manages to get all its seats full in the morning.

Detailed Description – In case u have the Time to NJOY reading:

We started our breakfast with Crepe bretonne. ‘A French Classic loaded with cream, egg, cheese & premium ham‘proclaimed the menu card. After taking orders, the server came bk and said the restaurant had no ham this morning. He offered offered chicken ham instead. We opted for bacon instead.

Marvellous. What a dish. Flavours of cheese were omnipresent. The texture was mindblowing. Good bacon made its presence felt. The freshly made crepe was so soft& so nice. Overall, rate this dish  4.75/5

We moved on to ‘Grilled fish with grilled veggies & poached egg’. The dish looked promising on the menu card but it turned out to b very good but short of memorable.

The fish was soft, flaky & nice.

The veggies were crunchy & nice.

The poached eggs were as good as they cud b. Hollandaise sauce made a difference though. Thankfully they used the tastier organic eggs & not the silly poultry eggs.

Third dish we had was Potato rosti with Mushroom ragouts – A swiss version of the Classic Potato pancake topped with mushroom ragouts. Nice mushroom ragout with but nothing  great about it.

Potato rosti with Mushroom ragouts

Potato rosti had nice non smooth texture formed due to the way it was made. However what was not great was that the potato used was not the best kind. It was sweetish. The rosti was also a bit too thick as compared to layer of ragout above – thus hampering the balance of taste. Rate it 3/5.

For beverages we ordered Watermelon juice – It was good plain watermelon juice sans any twist or turn. Good. Rate it 3/5

We also Apple zinger Zing – fresh Green apple Juice, fresh orange, ginger. This was quite refreshing , different & nice. Needed occassional stirring as sedimentation was happening. Rate it 4/5.

We ended up with Crepe Anglaise – Crepe stuffed with caramelized apple & topped with freshly made butterscotch. This dish was just stupendous.

The crepe was super soft. The filling was excellent. The freshly made butterscotch made a huge difference. It had a hint of salt in addition to the sugar. The appale had the sour & sweet.

Overall combo of salt, sweet, sour made this dish a hero. Rate it 4.75/5

Overall rating of food & beverages at The Blue door café averages out to 3.9/5.

Inspite of the relatively low scores there is something nice here which I hv not figured out. Is that the honesty / passion in making the dishes / the warm nice service – I don’t know. That unknown force will get me bk here to try out more options.
