Short Description – in case u r in a hurry:

We walked into this restaurant after reading favorable comments from a foodie Friend Aalok.  We noticed that the name is not just ‘this n that’ but ‘this n that from all over the world’.

Instantly loved the Cool decoration. Aroma from kitchen flowed inside the restaurant, due to open kitchen.

There were nice, colorful framed pictures on the wall.

The wallpaper was also very cool, depicting a view of a city of skyscrapers

The restaurant had a bare open painted ceiling with no false ceiling

They had a very difficult to use but informative menu card. Difficult to use coz it is made in table calendar form. So going to the next page was not just a flip to the right.

The menu card had write ups on interesting topics like ‘all about edible flowers’, ‘ about leaves’ etc. I wud say most of it was good read, specially if someone visits the café alone.

Poultry section of the menu card had 1 item of pork and 1 of lamb. Waiter did not know about the lamb option. He said we do not have lamb. We (silly) joked why pork was in poultry section – coz Swine flew (assuming it had wings and feathers like poultry).

Kind of food – bit of everything like kababs, salads, biryani, crepes ,  sizzlers, curries, seafood section, poultry section, small Italian section, kathi rolls , chinjabi gravy items like chilly paneer,  noodles, chopsuey etc. A lot of food in the menu was what I call Retro coz those were regularly available 30 years back in restaurants of India.

The Staff members were ordinary. Not great, not bad at all. They Knew well about the popular dishes of this restaurant.

Food in general was quite good.

Detailed Description – In case u have the Time to NJOY reading:

We started with Fish roulade – retro food today, something that one wud get in clubs and restaurants in the eighties and nineties.

Fish roulade
Fish roulade

This dish had a bed of hand mashed potatoes.  The potato mash was perfectly seasoned & served with fried garlic. Excellent to taste as it is.

Steamed veggies were perfectly crunchy and had the right amount of salt. They had melted butter on the base.

That was quite a lot of accompaniments. The main dish was Rolls of super soft and very tasty fish. Loved this dish very much.

There was a small bowl of ‘Russian salad’ which no one around kremlin wud hv ever had in this form I am sure. Added to the retro feel and made us nostalgic.

Rate this dish 4.5/5. This concept of food made us happy – just the way it was. Memories were gushing in as we discussed the restaurants we visited two decades back. Thank u chef.

Original chicken cutlet
Original chicken cutlet

Original chicken cutlet was was a minced chicken cutlet crumb fried. It was Juicy inside and had a crispy outer layer. The outer layer was thin & optimum – made its presence felt but did not overtake the taste of chicken.

Cud feel the ginger in the mix. Finely chopped onions and green chilles were interspersed in the mix. Once again childhood memories crept in. Loved this dish a lot. 4.5/5.

For main coures we ordered Singaporean chilly crab. As we waited, spoon and crab cracker came.

After digging into the dish, I wud call it ‘singh’aporean or ‘Singhpur-ian’ instead of Singaporean – A bit Punjabized (or Indianized if u call it).

However the taste was very nice. Freshness of crab was good. Sweetness of crab made its presence felt.

It was infact addictive. Kept on eating the dry gravy constantly. Crab was fresh and nice. Rate the crab 4/5

Virgin caprioska was good. Not bad but nothing great. Rate it 3/5.

For dessert we had Caramel custard. Again that led us to a host of memories of Caramel custard being made at home & how each member wud like / dislike it & the comments etc. The dish was very nice.

Of course it was soft, had a mild sweetness, had a slight bitter after taste. Rate this 4.25/5

  1. Hi
Nice writeup. Food look yummy too.
I read somewhere that service tax is only applicable on service charge. It seems they applied on the whole amount.
