Shabree Restaurant (Parichay Hotel, 1199/1A, FC Road, Pune)

In a nutshell:

Nice ambiance, an army of service staff, efficient and mechanical service like most other thali serving places, good food that is far from being wow.

Short description – in case u r in a hurry:

It is like all of those unlimited vegetarian thali places like Rajdhani and Panchwati Gaurav where all food is good but not necessarily great. There is a minimum standard below which nothing falls. A place to go for family dinners and carb load oneself till the stomach is bursting – not necessary that tastebuds are giggling.

The entrance

The exception to the rule I remember is Gypsy in Jodhpur that serves an outstanding local unlimited thali.

Food was being made in huge quantities almost like an industrial set up.

IMG_1933

Waiting staff were constantly coming every 3-4 minutes to ask for additional helping.

IMG_1932

Some among the Waiting staff were nice and others were stiff upper lip stern faced ones who were not amused when we were deliberating between sitting for the thali or going for a la carte in the dining room above ( of the same restaurant). They clearly displayed their discontent with facial expressions that reminded me of Kathakali dancers of Kerala.

Food was good as I said but not recommended for foodies who look for the real authentic almost home made local taste.
