The staff members were wearing uniform and the traditional maharashtrian cap. The guy serving us was nice. He took care and helped us with the menu as well.

Food in general was very enjoyable.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading.

For drink we tried Piyush – a Marathi drink. It was thicker than the other ones we have had in mumbai so far. It is a bit on the sweeter side generally with a very mild feel of sourness. The Piyush at Prakash was very good. Rate it 4/5

Piyush Piyush

We also ordered Kokum sharbat. It had good flavours of kokum and had a very good balance of sweet, salt and sour. Rate it 4/5.

The Missal here was very different from the one at Bedekar tea stall Pune. In general the Pune and mumbai versions r different.

Missal Missal

There was no rassa served on top of the missal and it was served without Pav or slice of bread as is customary in most places. This missal had potatoes, different pulses and sprouts , a not so hot but spicy gravy and was topped with sev and onions.

Not too much floating oil, not too much chillies, not too much spices on the face – a very well cooked, balanced dish with interplay of textures.

Rate it 4.25/5

Wangi pohe was excellent. It was almost like home made. Simple and subtle yet very flavourful and yumm. Flavours of spices made their presence felt and so did flavours of aubergines (wangi) . Super loved it and rate it 4.5/5

Kothimbir vadi was again a masterpiece. It had very crisp outer layer and super soft and yumm inside. The cubes were smaller in size than those at aaswad and hence there was more crust per sq cm.

Kothimbir vadi Kothimbir vadi

That made a difference. However, there was no interesting chutney served with the kothimvir vadi (as in Aaswad). Rate it 4.5/5

Sabudana vada was a revelation. It takes immense caliber to convert humble sabudana into something as good. The vada was freshly made and was crisp outside and soft inside.

Sabudana vada Sabudana vada

It was not at all chewy which is what the sabudana at many places turns into. Awesome it was. One of the best I hv ever had. Rate it 4.75/5

We also had Solkadi. It had an excellent balance of sweet, salt, hotness , sour and spices. Coconut milk was in the right proportion. Loved it and rate it 4.25/5

Solkadi Solkadi

Overall rating of food at Prakash averages out to 4.3/5

Wud love to get bk there..
