The dome ( intercontinental, near Churchgate, marine drive, mumbai)

In a nutshellA beautiful rooftop restaurant right on the marine drive, this restaurant could have been a gem only if it would have taken the food more seriously.

Short description- in case u r in a hurry:

We were looking for a restaurant with great ambience and this one popped up as an option.

As we entered, we realized how stunning the setting was – rooftop restaurant, great open air outdoor seating overlooking the marine drive, candlelight dinner …..

It had the feel of olive Qutub but on a height. However unlike olive, where food is outstanding, the food here was just good.

Service was very good. The boys were warm and they took care.

Menu card was only 2 pages. It had detailed description of the dishes on the menu.

Food was surely good but far from great.

Detailed description- in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Spanish meatball – it was a tomato based sauce in which meatball was stirred. The meatballs were soft n juicy, good to taste but not great. The flavours of meat were relatively less and tomato clearly overpowered. The sauce was nice. Rate the dish 3.5/5

Black cod miso – this item on the menu attracted us as we have had some fantastic black cod miso during our stay in gurgaon. It turned out to be good but again not outstanding. The robustness of flavours was missing. The fish was flaky and juicy. It tasted good too. Rate the dish 3.75/5

Seafood platter – this was a dish outside of the menu. The one on the menu was deep fried seafood and we wanted something stir fried. So they offered us stir fried seafood similar to bird chilly prawn. Sounded good. So we ordered.

It had fish, calamari and prawns. The fish was flaky and good. Calamari was not rubbery. Prawns were fresh and nice. The sauce had no bird eye chilly but an overdose of coarsely ground pepper, that surely interfered with the subtle flavours of seafood. Rate this dish 3.75/5

We did not think it was wise to try dessert.

Overall rating of food at this place was 3.7/5

I am very unlikely to return unless it is an occasion where ambience is more important than the food.
