China house (grand Hyatt, mumbai)

In a nutshell:

A lovely restaurant that serves super enjoyable authentic Chinese food – same as I have had numerous times during my trips to china. They serve one of the finest Peking ducks in the country.

Short description- in case u r in a hurry:

We used to enjoy our Peking duck at china kitchen, Hyatt delhi. So when we had Peking duck craving sometime bk in mumbai, we decided to go to china house at grand Hyatt.

The Restaurant is located in the really grand hotel by the name of grand Hyatt. The entrance to the restaurant is a walk on the side of mini pools and covered too open side eating kiosks.

The gate of the restaurant was grand, with a huge wooden door and metal door knobs.
The inside was very nice. Lighting was low. Seating was in semi covered cubicles and Also in a common area.

The menu card was exhaustive – it had the name of the food in English and Chinese and the english name was descriptive enough.

Detailed description- in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Sliced steam pork and cucumber and Sichuan garlic sauce – pork slices and cucumber were steamed together and cold sauce was poured from the top. The flavours of cucumber were intact and so was its crunchiness.

IMG_3971

The pork was bursting out with flavours . Mince pork on the top was enjoyable. Every bite was marvellous. Loved the punch in the thin sauce – the flavour remained in the mouth for long. Rate it 4.5/5

IMG_3972

Pork Pot Sticker was pork dumplings placed on a pan atop a layer of starch. Once done, it is flipped and served.

IMG_3974

The dumpling in itself was awesome. Flavours of meat and herbs were bursting out. The meat was super good to taste. The starch layer had become crisp due to frying and it added an interesting dimension to the texture. Rate it 4.5/5

IMG_3977

Peking duck was awesome – as good as I have had in Beijing / Peking. Super juicy and crisp outer shell and soft n flavourful meAt. Loved the sauces and the raw garlic super pungent paste. IMG_3983

As is the tradition, chef got the full roasted duck to the table and sliced it in front of us.
We had some as it is and some wrapped in pancakes with the sauce (which incorporates the juices of roast duck)
