Viet:nom (ground floor, cyber hub, gurgaon)

In a NUtshell

Better than many Asian restaurants in delhi NCR in terms of trying to be close to the real cuisine. Few dishes were tweaked to adjust to indian taste. Good service. YUMM food. Lovely ambience.

Address & other details: vietnom

Meal for 2: ₹1500

Cuisine type : vegetarian & non vegetarian

Short description- in case u r in a hurry

We saw this restaurant while walking around in cyber hub gurgaon. Did a quick review check & decided to visit another day.

The restaurant is in the main section on ground floor in cyber hub. It’s large.

The interiors are done tastefully & they have nuances of Vietnam.

There was both indoor & outdoor seating.

A huge bar gave a distinct look to the back wall.

The menu card was beautifully designed. It had good storytelling about food & in general about the country. The food description was done very well.

The service guys were very good. The guy specifically in charge of our table was excellent.

I have been to Vietnam earlier & eaten at different places there. Please find my earlier post on food in Vietnam here – Vietnam

Loved the food at vietnom, after being fully aware of the real food in Vietnam.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

salmon & avocado Summer rolls the leaf used in the roll gave it almost similar strong flavour as we had in Cambodia recently & earlier in Vietnam. The salmon flavours were overshadowed & of course the same was the fate of the mild flavoured avocado. The fish roe on the top also was lost in an overall bite (with everything together). The crunch & the overall texture was as close as possible. The taste was very good. Rate the dish 3.75/5

Shrimp mousse on sugarcane stick – this was exactly how I had eaten it years back in Vietnam. this dish also reminded us of the ‘pakoras’ (fish fillet wrapped around vegetable & cooked) made with different veggies with coating of fish ‘batter’, that we ate in Cambodia. Loved every bit of it. Rate it 4.75/5

Hot pot fish was brought to the table on a burning stove. Our server mixed the accompaniments to the soul, right in front of us. It was interesting drama unfolding in the table. The soup had a very flavourful broth – we expected a fish/meat flavoured broth, like they serve in Vietnam / Cambodia , but this one was vegetable broth. I guess the fish broth wud be Too much fishy flavour for most customers of this restaurant & hence the change.

There were large sized pebbles in the soup to keep the temperature of the soup high. If kept on flame, the veggies wud get over cooked. So we got it off the flame pretty soon.

The soup was good to taste. The fish was nice. Overall it was 3/5

We also tried a drink called avalanche. It was good. Rate it 3.5/5

Overall rating of food at this restaurant averages out to 3.75/5.

I wud any day prefer little Saigon over this restaurant from just the food perspective. However if I have to meet friends for a meal or for a social gathering/ if my friends are not too experimentative, I wud prefer vietnom.
