Short description – in case u r in a hurry:

We heard about this restaurant from our friends. We landed here one Sunday evening to find that all seats were pre reserved. Did not expect that in a restaurant in a predominantly office area.

Decor inside the eatery

The lady at the counter suggested that all slots were booked & hence there is no use waiting. So either we leave or dine at the bar. We decided to dine at the bar.

That turned out to b a boon coz the guy at the bar turned out to be very good & we enjoyed a good chat with him on food & beverages in general.

The interiors were beautiful & there were many interesting elements all around.

Fishing from the moon!

Burmese cuisine has vegetarian & non vegetarian options. However this restaurant serves only vegetarian. I heard (not sure if true) that the landlord of the building is a vegetarian & he gave the place on rent on this condition!!!!

Food was marvelous. So were the drinks.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

As we placed the order, we were served 4 chutneys.

We were served a Red chutney. It was nutty & very enjoyable.

Red chutney

The Dark brown dry chutney was very hot. It had chilly flakes.

Black bean sauce was  good.

Tamarind chutney was interesting

Rate the assorted chutneys 4.25/5

We ordered a Soup – mon Lao hincho. It was thin, hot and YUMM. It had full bodied flavor of garlic. The veggies in it were crunchy and they beautifully retained their original texture and taste. Super loved it and rate it 4.5/5

Mon Lao Hincho

Oh no tamarind, a drink – this was served in a cup that looked like coconut. It had a tamarind and Burmese jaggery base and garnished with scraped coconut. Flavours of tamarind and jaggery both made their presence felt. Loved the scraped coconuts. A tangy drink that stood out and was YUMM. Rate it 4.5/5.

Oh no tamarind

Ginger spice drink was again very different than usual. It had the strong flavor of ginger (there were juliennes of ginger in the drink). The taste was a mix of sweet and sour and when sipped with the salt in the rind there was a third dimension. Liked it very much. Rate it 4/5

Grapefruit salad was excellent – salty and sour, with a hint of garlic. Great in flavours and taste. Rate it 4.5/5.

Grapefruit Salad

Raw mango salad had nuts in it and was again excellent to taste. A hint of sweet added to a salt n sour mix. Perfect texture. Rate it 4.5/5

Raw mango salad

Tea leaf salad was very interesting. The predominantly visible leaf was lettuce but there was a paste of tea leaf in making the salad. That gave it a very unusual taste and a mild astringent feel. Rate it 4.25/5

Khao suey we had here was one of the best I have ever had outside of Burma (never been to Burma). Am sure the original one wud hv a point of difference.

Khao suey

The soup was coconuty in terms of flavor but it was not overtly thick or overtly creamy. It seemed perfect. Enjoyed it as it is and with the condiments. Rate it 4.75/5.

Condiments served with Khao Suey

Dessert was the only thing that was good but below wow. It had a coconut milk base, had coloured ramen, lotus seeds and broken cake (sweetened breads). It was a bit more sweet than optimal. Rate it 3/5

Burmese Falooda

Overall rating averages out to 4.25/5

Wud surely revisit to explore more
