Short description – in case u r in a hurry:

I came to know of this thru friends & ended up there to find that it was just a takeaway and the restaurant is coming up. So we ended up packing our food and getting back home.

The little enclosure of the kitchen is like a waiting area. Very well maintained. Writing in the wall is worth reading every wall. I loved reading all that stuff and njoyed the whacky cartoons. Good time pass while waiting.

The logo says big Wong – authentic Asian food. That is surely not true. If this is authentic, then elephant is the name of a fruit!!!!!! No real Asian restaurant in china or Far East wud serve corn flour thickened gravy ( almost consistency of butter chicken gravy). Neither wud any true blue Asian restaurant serve jumbo prawns deep fried in batter and cook that with sauce.

In short, the food is nothing short of chinjabi, japjabi etc etc.

However when it comes to taste, a lot of the food had good flavours and taste. The textures of meats were good. The momos were nice. The attempt to go beyond the usual Delhi chinjabi fare cud b seen. There were lot if good and different options.

The good thing is people here try to b as realistic as possible with respect to time. While waiting I overheard a conversation where someone was told ‘ this is the best we can. I wud not want to give u false hope.’

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Chicken Thai basil dim sum was nice. The flavor of basil was subtle. Not overpowering. The orangish sauce on the top was very nice. Strong flavours overall. The dim sum was moderately juicy and had very nice flavours.

It had chunks of chicken pieces unlike chicken mince in most other dimsums. Really liked it. Rate it 4.25/5.

Prawn enoki mushroom dim sum was a relatively subtle one. It has good flavours of mushroom and prawns. Prawns were soft and moderately juicy, quite good to taste. Loved the dim sum and rate it 4/5.

We decided to go for the fake ‘Chinese dish’ called Chilly chicken that was actually invented in India. No Chinese in China has heard about this name.

It was nice in general. The chicken pieces were soft and good as well. The dish missed the twist that cud have transformed if from good to great. Rate it 3/5.

We then moved on to the Steamed fish in black bean sauce. The fish again was good , tasty and soft. The black bean sauce was made a bit mild I guess to adjust to Indian palate. The flavor of black bean was suboptimal. However it was overall a good dish. Rate it 3/5.

We had Prawn in oyster sauce for main course. The guys had just murdered the king size prawns by putting a thick coat atop it. The whole flavours of the prawns died due to this. The taste got affected and the softness got compromised. Rate the murdered prawn pieces 1/5.

The gravy of this dish was almost as thick as say dal makhni. What’s wrong? It however tasted quite good. Nowhere close to anything authentic. It was a wasted prawn dish. Rate the gravy 2/5.

Last dish we had was Lamb in chilly wine sauce. This thankfully was much better than the previous one.
