Short description- in case u r in a hurry
Like I mentioned, the shop has been around since 1896. Just to give perspective –
1. Ford motor car company was launched in 1903
2. Partition of Bengal happened in 1905
3. Russia was being ruled by Czar in 1896
4. VT station of Mumbai was just 6 years old
5. Lutyen’s Delhi was not yet born. Delhi 6 of today (purani dilli) was the main city of delhi
6. Kashmir was being ruled by a king, a part of British empire.
For a long time Moonlight had only one shop near the dal lake. Later they moved to Hajratbal area & eventually opened a second store onway to airport
Walnut is grown in abundance in Kashmir & in good quality.
Detailed Description – in case you have the time to enjoy reading:
The walnut fudge at Moonlight had full blown flavour of walnut. There was a hint of salt from the crust & the filling in the middle was sweet. Personally we like the ones that have a little more salt in the filling.
However we realized soon that the fudge is unstoppable. Hand travels from fudge to mouth without listening to ‘you’ll get fat’ ‘watch your calories’ kind of messages by the brain. In short, it feels calorie worthy.
Rate the fudge 4.5/5
Must visit if in Srinagar.
Thanks to kashmir walks for introducing us to this shop.
