Short description- in case u r in a hurry
We usually don’t jump into a hype. We didn’t, this time as well. We waited few months & finally arrived pre lunch time on a weekday to avoid queues. The drive was long, of course from gurgaon to GK but the food & the whole experience made up for everything.

For many years we used to lament the absence of top notch South Indian restaurants in delhi NCR. At some time saravana bhawan used to be good. They have declined. Murugan idly or Sangeetha never came to this city.
The Google pin took us to the rear of the restaurant (loading unloading section). The management might think of engaging an expert to somehow fix this.
As we reached the restaurant facade, we saw the queue managers but were relieved to see no queues.

We (unexpectedly) were greeted by a young gentleman at the entrance. As we went in we realized it’s a relatively small suave for the kind of people that come here.
A lady quickly introduced herself & took us to the Mc Donald’s style large screens for ordering. She also suggested some dishes. We decided to eat some & pack some more.
There were no seats. One had to stand & eat next to high tables. What was interesting was that they had hooks for ladies to hang their handbags.

Each bill got an interesting name & that appeared on the receipt, the TV when the order was ready & was also being called out. Ours was BRIJESH PATEL ACADEMY & 165 AIRLINES KP

Each & everything that we ate was just too good. If one sees from a traditional recipe perspective, there might be different points of view. If one says there is no sambar, that’s again different. However whatever was there, our taste buds thanked us throughout the day for giving them an extraordinary treat

Detailed description – in case you have the time to enjoy reading:
We started with
Ghee Pudi Thatte Idly — Classic
Ghee made its presence felt loud & clear. So did the podi, in terms of both taste & flavour. The fermented flavours of super soft idly did also peep in from time to time. The balance of the 3 elements was just right. None of these elements overpowered each other. They complimented. Rate this 4.75/5

Benne Masala Dosa — Classic
This was the craziest part of the meal – extraordinarily crisp outer layer of thick dosa & incredibly soft inside. Perfect balance of taste in the masala (aloo). Every bite was a joy till the least bite. Rate it 4.95/5

Filter Coffee Soft Serve — Classic. This again was quite a revelation. A soft serve with strong flavour of strong coffee. Not too sweet. Just right. Rate it 4.5/5

Shavige Bath — chutney on the side. For the uninitiated, it’s a savoury vermicelli preparation quite popular in Karnataka. We were absolutely thrilled by the balance of seasoning, the perfect softness of the vermicelli, the independent strands, the contrasting textures & more. Rate it 4.75/5

Mangalore Buns came with a very very addictive chutney. The buns had perfect fermented flavour & were just too good. Rate it 4.5/5

Badam Halwa — Bangalore style was slightly sweeter than I would have liked. Very good as it is. Who am I to comment on the generally accepted standards of a cuisine. Compared to others this was creamier & had a nice bite. Rate it 4.25/5
Overall rating average out to 4.6/5
