unique & fiercely tasty veggies wrapped dimsums

Short Description – In case u r in a hurry:

As the name suggests, it is a dimsum specialist. As soon as u sit, they serve coated nuts & an ‘out of the world’ garlic sauce – memorable & remarkable. You can order ‘Baskets’ of 6, 8 or 12 dimsums & they are served one after the other, choice of both vegetarian & non-vegetarian. There is a ‘Gourmet’ dimsum menu where costlier ingredients like caviar, smoked salmon, scallops etc are used. There is a ‘premium’ list as well &the rest are called ‘Classic’. We usually finish our dinner just with the excellent dimsums of different varieties. On extra hungry days in the past we have tried the main-course & they have not been disappointing either.

Detailed Description – In case u have the time to enjoy reading:

In the Gourmet option we had some outstanding Scallop Sui Mai with caviar. The dimsum was tied at the top with seaweed & was topped with caviar. Innovative & excellent.

In the premium option we had some Prawn Shingtu – stir fried prawns with onion, garlic& herbs – soft, juicy & immensely good taste.

In the Classic section we went for the following six options:

Wheat lamb dimsums were very good but both the varieties of lamb dimsums that we had in The Monk, Galaxy Mall Gurgaon were better than this.

Playboy prawn dimsums were very nice – they had a translucent layer made with rice & very very tasty within. The dimsum looked like playboy bunnies.

playboy dimsums that look like bunnies:)

Prawn Bamboo shoot dimsums were steamed & also pan fried post that – unique & nice. Reminded of Kothay momo that is served at Sikkim food restaurants. It had a rich robust taste.
Malaysian Fish Roll wrapped in green leaves was a visual delight, very different & refreshing in taste & hence surely memorable.

Malaysian Fish roll dimsum - wrapped in leaf!!!

Black bean pork spare ribs were very tasty but the bones were quite irritating……………more so coz u r not expecting bones.

Pork spare ribs - not a dimsum but an appetizer

Soup dimsum is also another interesting option that we had – clear soup inside the momo!!! In addition to shrimps.

For dessert we went for another cool food – molten chocolate inside a rice ball densely coated with sesame!!!!………….. needless to say it is served piping hot.

Last time we had been there, we tried non-dimsum dinner – started with asparagus crab soup – the asparagus had lost its teeth (was not crunchy) & the crab was too shy (cud not make its presence felt)..very average. Then came the prawns in butter chilli garlic – lipsmacking good, want to hav more kind – flavors & juices burst out in the mouth as u pop them in. Maincourse was an excellent coconut sticky rice with prawns, black & button mushrooms, pokchoy – simply Brilliant with the flavors of coconut. Could b even better if the button mushrooms wud b replaced with more black mushrooms. The liquid that accompanied all this was apple & mint toll – apple juice, minced fresh mint leaves & brown sugar with thin slices of apple thrown in…….. my taste buddies (buds) were overwhelmed…u can also try:)

On another ‘not so hungry evening’, we tried out a dish called santung fish…..after we liked the prawn butter chilli garlic. While the prawn is surely better, this one was also too good. sole fillets thin batter fried & then sauteed with tiny square pieces of onion , garlic & herbs. Superb. In the maincourse, tried a sticky rice bowl with sole fish, fungus (mushrooms) , a dark brown sweet & salt chilli hoisin paste …. too good.

Do not miss……………… this unique eatery
