Short description – in case u r in a hurry:
We have been hearing about this place for some time now from friends as well as social media.

A common sentence that came as a word of caution was that go early to avoid queues. So one Saturday evening we decided to reach as early as 7 pm and that worked well.
The restaurant
It is located on the first floor of a building which has shops on the ground floor. The entrance to the restaurant is thru a staircase at the back of the building. To reach the back one has to walk thru a narrow kuchcha alley with small shops around.
Once we reached the staircase, it was a totally different place.

The restaurant had two areas- a general area and an AC area. We chose the general area.

The dining hall was well lit, had highlights of the menu on the wall, had a wash basin and mirror in the corner with a notification not to comb hair in front of the mirror!!!!!!

The menu card was few pages and it had no description of the items. If one knows the fish, they can order. Else they hv to ask the waiting staff.

The guy serving us was pretty formal at the beginning and slowly eased out as the evening progressed. I guess he was reciprocating our behaviour towards him. He was pretty knowledgeable about the dishes.
Food was very enjoyable.
On the way out we noticed a huge crab shell perched atop the staircase landing.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
All food we ordered was accompanied with a lovely light green coconut based chutney. All gravy dishes came with an additional bowl of thin gravy.

We started our dinner with Surmai fry – Fresh Surmai marinated in minimum spices with a translucent coating of a thin batter on it. Tasted excellent since the fish was fresh and was perfectly fried. Rate it 4.5/5.

Sukkha mutton. It had Tiny pieces of mutton that were soft but slightly chewy. Gravy was robust & rustic. Rate it 4.25/5.

Crab tawa fry – Excellent crab cooked in a thick, dryish masala. However, the taste of crab was not ruined despite the spicy and quite hot gravy. Hot and spicy but it had a character of its own. The gravy was enjoyable on its own and when we took a bite into the crab it was all juicy and had that characteristic sweetness of the crab flesh. Rate it 4.5/5

Prawns Masala was excellent. Soft & nice, YUMM & flavorful prawns were really enjoyable. Gravy had got flavors of prawn in it. Rate it 4.5/5.

Mori sukkah – We tried to understand from our server what was a ‘Mori’ since we are not familiar with the name. However, he tried but cud not translate into hindi / English. So we went ahead and ordered it. We were not disappointed. It was fish made into small pieces in a hot & spicy YUMM gravy. Rate it 4/5.

Bhakri – To go with the spicy food we ordered rotis made out of rice flour known as Tandlachi Bhakhri. It was soft and nice. The neutral taste was perfect for the spicy curries we ordered. Rate it 4.25/5.
Kokum kadhi – The kokum kadhi was thin and flavourful and acted as a nice palate cleanser between the courses. Rate it 4.25/5.

We also tried surmai curry. The fish was perfect, perfectly cooked. Neither too hard not too soft. The gravy had a creamy texture with perfect blend of spices and coconut. 4.5/5
The aroma of the prawns tawa fry was amazing . The curry was little spicy without killing the flavour of the prawns . Not too much gravy and perfect for having with both rice and chappati. Rate it 4.5/5.
