AKU’s the brrgrr Co. (Opposite CROSSWORDS. Cyber hub, gurugram)

In a nutshell:

A food-focussed, chef driven, no nonsense, burger stall that serves some excellent burgers without indianizing them. The tweaks are in the form of additional options – no bun (read carb) burger, double patty, extras etc.

Short description- in case u r in a hurry

We came across AKU’s on the social media & decided to try ordering the food. Loved it so much that we decided to go to the ‘restaurant’.

Menu card

The Instagram posts are just too good, specially the ones that show how the burgers are being made. Makes one feel like trying the food here. Recommended to follow (link in top section)

Details

We reached cyber hub to realize it’s a food stall with a tiny eating space in one corner. Well it’s we who assumed & no one told us it was a restaurant. Luckily the weather was not bad. So we enjoyed the meal, standing at the stall.

Corner area for eating there – Slab to place the food

The interesting part is that contrary to my belief (that delivered food loses texture, as compared to eaten fresh at restaurant), the AKU’s burger delivered to Dlf phase 4 from cyber hub was as good as the burgers we had fresh, at the stall.

What a cool box

Going forward we will order at home.

They also have a DIY kit. It can be ordered thru their website (link above -‘address & other details’ section)

The menu was written on the backdrop of the food counter (like in startbucks).

Menu on wall

There were options to add, with the burger .

Ready to dispatch/ eat there
Storage of boxes

For guests who want to eat there, packaging was the same as in delivery. No plates/ cutlery.

Eating Area long shot

The most interesting bit (that we felt at the time of ordering) was the mention of burgers without buns for ‘low carb meals’. Lettuce wrapped around the patty instead of bun.

Bun less

The dessert menu was short & sweet.

Open kitchen

The boys at the counter were just about friendly. Not chatty, not grumpy. Did not seem happy & cheerful – neither sad or angry!!!! They were just transactional. No intention to start a conversation, even if the stall was empty. They Answered every question with Alexa type short & curt answers.

Loved the food here.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Day 1

We tried an Outstanding lamb burger, ordered at home, named Meister burger. We added bacon (was a choice of extra). We were simply floored. It was one of the top 5 burgers I have had in india (not that I have had too many burgers in india but have had hundreds of burgers at different places in New York & other cities in the US, during my multiple travels for work).

Meister burger

The lamb patty was just right. Lumpy, very very juicy & bursting out with meaty flavors. One of the best burger patties I have had in India. The bun was very good too. Not the best burger bun in have ever had. Loved the right amount of sauces used (most places in india overdo this bit). It is probably due to this that the burgers when home delivered , were as good as when we had them at the stall on a later day.

Day 2

Bold bingo burger – we ordered this without the bun (seeing that option on the menu). This was a lamb mince patty with blue cheese & other cheese. The bun was replaced with lettuce. So we were eating a patty & everything else, in between layers of lettuce.

Bingo burger sans bun

The patty was outstanding as the earlier. Super juicy, lumpy & oozing with meaty flavors. The blue cheese quantity was interesting – good enough to give the feel of blue cheese, within a limit to ensure the blue cheese flavor does not dominate the flavors of the patty.

Bingo burger sans bun

Lettuce was nice & crunchy

Conclusion for us regarding eating burgers in future – We wud eat it on a ‘no carb day’ or a ‘low carb day’ or a work day lunch (filling the stomach with something tasty & not unhealthy). But the joy of enjoying a burger on a weekend is to have it with the bun.

Rate the burger 4.5/5

bro G burger – this was not on the menu on the wall, probably coz the Fanta fanatics might find it offensive. It was tenderloin burger. Water buffalo meat I assume.

Bro G

Well, saw a lot of interesting posts about this on AKU’s insta site & we asked about it. They said ‘yes’ & we ordered it.

Bro G

We ordered a double patty. This patty was less juicy than the lamb one, slightly brittle. The flavors of the meat were robust. The sauces were just right. Loved the burger overall. I have surely had better tenderloin burgers in the US & in pre 2014 india. Rate it 3.5/5

Bro G

Aunt N’s ginger fizz was a revelation!!! I saw the boys pouring soda into a bottle in which they had put a pinkish powder. Amazed that the powder created (I am assuming, in-house) was so potent & had spot on flavors, that this drink qualifies to be among my top 5 ginger fizz drinks (as far as I can remember). Rate it 4.75/5

Look forward to trying out more options from here going forward.
