Zanotta (leela gurgaon)

In a nutshell:

Speechless after eating out at zanotta. We did not even see the menu – we rather asked the chef to feed us whatever he wished!!!! Rest was magic on the plate.

Short description- in case u r in a hurry

When we returned to gurgaon from mumbai in 2019, we read about degustation menu at zanotta. It was on our list but did not happen. Then came COVID 1, 2 & 3. Zanotta remained on our list till we had a special occasion to celebrate this month & we decided to book a table.

We visited the leela Gurgaon’s website & found a tab to book a table at zanotta. After filling the details I mentioned in the note ‘please do not call me. Please connect on WhatsApp to confirm booking’.

Biswajit Chatterjee from leela reverted on WhatsApp, confirmed our booking, sent a picture of the menu card & patiently answered all our queries.

As we entered the restaurant, we were pleasantly shocked by its view. The glass wall facing the highway had a very interesting view. We got to know that at the restaurant they call it Ruby & pearl concept. Ruby is the line of red tail lights on one side of the highway & pearl is the line of ecru head lights of cars on other side of the highway.

The interiors of the restaurant was modern & nice. An open kitchen added to the ‘food comes first’ feel of the restaurant.

Chef walked up to us as we sat. We said ‘what are your highlights’. He mentioned some. We sensed it sounded interesting. We said ‘we eat everything that you might be serving. Small portions. Please give us the best of your choice’.

We usually never order deep fried food & usually never order chicken (except in punjabi restaurants). When the dishes started coming, we were a bit apprehensive on two occasions. One was an assorted fried seafood & the other was chicken pasta. We were proven wrong by chef the moment the food landed on our taste buds. Chef did magic with these two as well.

The menu card (though we did not use it) had detailed description of all dishes.

Service was personalised & impeccable

Loved the food. On few occasions we had to really put all our self control techniques in place, to ensure we did not lick the plate till the last drop of the jus!!!

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Burrata with concentrated tomato essence was the first dish we had.

Burrata with concentrated tomato essence

The tomato essence was magical. The Burrata was outstanding in terms of texture, flavours & had the perfect taste. The softness of the Burrata perfectly complimented the crunchy beetroot cubes . Loved those . Rate the dish 4.5/5

Assorted fried seafood with homemade garlic aioli dip & tomato dip came next.

We would never have ordered this but we are very happy in retrospect that chef recommended this dish – super thin & crisp outer layer & perfectly cooked seafood were the highlight of the dish. The garlic sauce & homemade dips that came along, were just too good. The duos added to the flavours but did not take away the flavours of the ingredients.

Chicken cacciatore tortellini  with marsala jus was the main course.

.

This dish was Insane. The jus was just too good. With great self control, we managed to stop fingers from touching the plate & licking off every drop of the jus. Intense meaty flavour acquired with many hours of cooking made the jus special.

Super juicy (dripping juice ) fish that was flaky & had the perfect texture . Unbelievably good

Rate the dish 4.75/5

Tiramisu was a balance of the right bitter & the right sweet. The lightness of the dish, interplay of textures (hard but crisp base, soft but firm tiramisu) were the highlights. Rate it 4.75/5
