About YUMMRAJ:

A fashionwear business professional, I,  YUMMRAJ am a fun loving person and a foodie. I love travelling, adda, movies, books, sketching on paper & drawing on MS paint.On the ‘foodie’ part, I consider myself fortunate to have my childhood best friend as my wife, who is also a foodie. We have together been to all eateries reviewed by me and have written all the reviews together.

Food being a passion, eating out was a part of our regular existence in Delhi NCR. The range of eateries we went to,  varied from the tiny old shops of Chandni Chowk, old gurgaon & their relatively new avatars in New Gurgaon to Restaurant chains & Boutique restaurants in star hotels ……. anyone who offers great food.

Having shifted to Mumbai, YUMMRAJ will cover a lot of Mumbai eateries in the months to come.

When someone asks us ‘what is ur favorite cuisine’ or ‘what is ur favourite dish?’, we have no answer coz as long as the food is great, we r happy. We generally try to avoid eateries that are confused about their USP themselves & have signboards saying ‘Indian, Chinese, Mughlai’ – They seem to have separated Mughals from the rest of the Indians owing to the former’s Timurid origins (pun intended)!!!!

While I started with Delhi NCR & that continues to be the highest % of my reviews, there are many reviews of restaurants in other cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Indore, Bhopal, Aurangabad, Khajuraho,  Phoenix, Boston, London, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Hampi, Lucknow, Mumbai & more are coming.

I, YUMMRAJ, am a food lover & not a Food Engineer (Chef). So all reviews are as a normal ‘good food’ loving person.

I believe in ‘balance’ in life – So I balance all the foodie excesses with regular workouts. Thankfully that works

Clarification: What is common with most of the above restaurants in Delhi NCR , however, is that most of the non-veg menu cards are very chicken heavy influenced by the taste of Punjab.……….. to the extent that I heard someone crack a joke in frustration – ‘Chicken seems to be the National bird of Punjab’. Let me make a confession here – For hardcore carnivores like us, broiler chicken actually is the lowest form of non-vegetarian food & is on the borderline of being vegetarian!!!! Desi chicken however is awesome & if cooked well can give u an ultimate culinary experience. Unfortunately I do not know eateries in Delhi that serve Desi Chicken. I have consciously tried to cover all chicken joints, being completely aware of my bias………… Hope I do not disappoint the chicken lovers.

  5. there is a andhra restuarant near rajendra place metro station called ‘southern corner’.
    It serves very good non – veg andhra food and you will also see ‘desi chicken’ item on menu there.

  7. Keep up the good work YM – I am ordering based on your reviews and you are usually spot on. You may want to include the price of dishes, as you review and rate them (while you do give the overall cost of the meal).

      I usually put a link to the restaurant’s website. some of them have menu cards, others do not. I am wary of putting real prices coz they change from time to time & it is almost impossible to track that:)

  15. I really liked the name “Yummraj” 😀 Also I agree with the desi chicken thing. I have had desi chicken like a hundreds of times at home . Though it is a bit low on the quantity of meat , the flavour of desi chicken is far more better and unique. Unfortunately no place in Delhi NCR serves desi chicken.

  16. I don’t remember how I chanced upon your gastronomic treasurehouse in the virtual world, but ever since, been hooked onto it pretty neatly. Wonderful job mate !! What I like most in all your analyses of eateries is the perfect balanced details sometimes nuanced, anecdotal or with aphorisms.There is always a subtle but strong undertone and no overt explosion of judgements – even the food journeys that disappoint you, the criticism comes in a very gentle yet impactful civility.
