Panchavati Gaurav (20-12, Cyber Hub, DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon)

In a nutshell:

Nice ambience, similar format as Rajdhani, an amazing manager and staff who make u feel as if u r guests at his house but some average to good food.

Description:

The restaurant has a full glass facade and one can see thru it while walking past. This is located right near one of the entrances of cyber hub and is unmissable. Inside the restaurant is nice and it has elements of traditional Indian decor.

As mentioned above, as we entered the restaurant, the manager welcomed us with a huge smile (very genuine one), said namashkar with folded hands and showed us in. I felt as we were baratis in his daughter’s marriage / revered guests at his home. Of course we reciprocated the gesture with equal warmth.

What stood out in the staff was that most of them were’ not just doing a job’. They were also feeding guests with a smile, efficiently and quickly.

Only if the food were as good as the manager and the staff!!!

The only option for food here is a thali. It is a mix of Rajasthani and Gujarati, we were told. The food was average at times, good at times and hardly ever outstanding with the exception of 2 items. A similar thali at bikanervala / haldirams / om sweets wud have been much more richer , wud have had much more ghee etc and more ‘on the face’. In a restaurant like suruchi at least there were Rajasthani specialty stuff like ker sanghri etc. Here it was just plain Jane usual North Indian fare. No specialty regional food though they claimed Rajasthani and Gujarati cuisine.

The Meal started with a dhokhla that was very good. Reminded us of a very good Gujarati food stall in MGF mall gurgaon named farsaan. The dhokhla was soft, not overtly fluffy and had an intense taste. Liked it very much and rate it 4/5.

Post this we were served a samosa chaat. This was excellent – crisp samosa broken and topped with dahi, chutneys and sew. Great texture ( not soggy) and superb tastes and flavours. rate it 4.5/5.

The exceptions ended here and thereafter started the long list of averages.

Chaanch served was ordinary – not bad not good. Rate it 2/5

We were served paneer that was as most good. Paneer was soft and nice. Gravy was ordinary. I rate this 2.5/5.

Daal was again very average. Rate it 2/5.

Daal baati was just bad. daal had neither a good balance of taste in terms of seAsoning nor did it have distinct flavours of good daal and spices. The baati was just bad. It was hard & was not as good as the basic baati that u find in decent eateries in Jaipur. Mentally my benchmark was with those super places in Jaipur like santosh bhojanalaya etc. rate it 1/5.

Gatte ki subzi was average in terms of taste. Gathas were hard and almost tasteless. Rate it 1/5.
