Short Description – in case u r in a hurry:
We have been eating out at the old Special French Omelet shop from last few years. Always loved the food there. The company facebook page says they started in 1994 – 20 yrs old!!!! Impressive….

This time around we were driving past Gurgaon’s best fish kabab shop Pappu Fish & spotted Special French Omelet shop there. Went back another evening to try the food.

A chat with the guys there was nice and informative. The brothers have split business and now have they have 2 shops – the old one and this.

The shop has a high table where people can keep their plates and eat from. Else there r few chairs in which people can sit & eat (plate in hand).

The general upkeep of the place was not that great. We were told that they will do up the place neatly in a while & get in more furniture etc.

This shop had the same menu as the old shop except that the new shop said they had added a new dish ‘cream omelet’.

Another difference was that in the new shop they gave us the option to choose between poultry eggs & farm bred organic eggs (that r way too tasty).

The magic secret ingredient here is Amul butter. They use ¼ of a 100g pack in every plate………….

Detailed Description – In case u have the Time to NJOY reading:
We started with Special French omelet. Unlike what it sounds, here all dishes come with bread as a part of the dish. So the Omelet & bread were inseparable – somewhat like a French toast made with excessive egg.

The bread in the special French Omelet was crisp & YUMM (due to the butter) on the outer side & soft on the inner side. They had sprinkled lemon & that added a twist to the tale. A black secret masala did more magic. Thinly chopped coriander leaves & chilly were very good to have. The final surprise was the green chutney that was served with the omelet made from Dhania, Pudina & spices – totally unexpected & just too good.

We forgot to mention that we wanted organic eggs. So our food was made with poultry eggs.
Rate this 4/5 with poultry egg & it wud surely b 4.25/5 with organic eggs.
The next item we had was Half fry omelet – essentially a sunny side up stuck to a bread. Same ingredients as b4, but with sunny side up. The bread was crisp on the outer side & YUMM too. The two slices of bread (with sunny side stuck to one) were supposed to b eaten together. As expected, the yolk burst after the first bite.

Loved it. Rate it 4.25/5. This wud hv been at least 4.5/5 with organic eggs.
The third dish we had was Cream Omelet. This new dish turned out to b interesting – scrambled egg & cream made into a filling and made into a fried sandwich. The bread part was crisp.

The filling was generous , YUMM, soft & creamy & just too good. This time we remembered to get organic eggs.

Rate this dish 4.5/5.
Overall rating of food at French Omelet averages out to 4.25/5. I wud keep revisiting.
There r 2 dishes that I must mention coz they r interesting:
- boiled eggs – Even this is served with chatpata masalas, coriander and seasoning.
- Chicken stew – I don’t know how chicken reached the egg store. I saw some co-diners enjoying the same. I intend to try it some day. Will keep u posted…..
