Short description- in case u r in a hurry

We got to know about the restaurant by reading posts on the social media. We read about smoked food they serve and that interested us.

The restaurant is in a beautiful colonial style building in the fort area in south mumbai. It is located on the first floor. On the ground floor was copper chimney.

The walk up the wooden stairs was pretty nostalgic.

The interiors were dimly lit and very beautiful. The walls were full of framed pictures.

There was a live DJ set up on the upper floor.

Service was pathetic. There were two girls on the floor. It took them what seemed like few years to reach after we sat. For everything we had to wave at them several times to come (at times I was wondering that with so much practice I got at waving, I cud do a good job replacing tom hanks in ‘cast away’. 🙂

Menu card was very easy to understand and navigate thru.

We were very impressed with the food itself and the fact that someone tried to b different and good at the risk of being less mass.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

BBQ pit beef salad

We were pleasantly surprised to see this on the menu card and loved it when we ate it – Unusual and rare availability in mumbai. interesting texture of the meat – the rare part in the middle and the cooked part on the side – super thinly sliced. The leaves were super fun to munch on, specially with that mustardy dressing. Rate it 4.5/5

For main course we went for TBB smoked BBQ platter. We had the choice to choose from a list of 8-10 items ranging from chicken, pork, buffalo in the form of meat loafs / sausages.

Smoked buffalo brisket was crazy good. Intense, robust and rustic flavours of grilled meat and burnt sauce. Wow. The piece had perfect proportions of fat and meat. Somewhat Juicy, not very soft but perfectly enjoyable, not at all chewy. The strands of meat were subdued. Smokey flavor a ha ha . Overall – outstanding. Am craving for more as I write this. Rate it 4.95/5

Chicago style hot linked pork sausage was better than most disasters that are referred to as sausages in india. The sausage was thick, intense and juicy in the center. The taste was very good. The meat seemed to be machine pasted. Rate the dish 3.5/5

Smoked bacon strips were good – crisp, juicy and mouthful of flavor. I hv however as better. Rate it 3/5

Memphis style smoked pork rib was excellent too. It had layers of meat and fat – beautiful play of textures and taste in different layers. Once again this meat was perfectly smoked. Loved the intensity of the meat. Rate it 4.75/5

All this meat came with 2 slices of garlic bread, BBQ beans , coleslaw and some gherkin.

4 very interesting sauces served were – Kentucky black, Carolina mustard, hot red, Alabama white. Loved Alabama white the most.

For dessert we had Double chocolate chip skillet – a freshly baked double chocolate chip cookie (size of skillet), topped with a scoop each of orange , vanilla, salted caramel. The freshly baked cookie was outstanding- piping hot, moist but crisp, great to taste. The ice creams were not run of the mill. These were just too good. Loved the fermented feel in the orange one. Rate it 4.5/5

We read on a zomato review that masala daddy is very good. Turned out to be an interesting masaledar drink with suboptimal punch. Rate it 2.5/5.

Overall rating of food and never at Boston butt averages out to 4.2/5

Wud surely revisit To reorder few and try out left out dishes

Day 2

we went back on thanksgiving weekend to try their thanksgiving menu.

Roasted parsnip soup with apple and pecan nuts was a delight. Thick, mild flavoured soup that was delicious. Rate it 4.5/5

Dukkah rubbed grilled turkey was served with pumpkin mash, sautéed vegetables and cranberry sauce. This was one of the best turkeys I have had in india of late. Excellent meat , flavourful, slightly juicy, just about charred at the edges ….. rate it 4.5/5

We also tried Grilled tenderloin with mustard and pickled raisin jus. Loved the steak – perfectly charred, juicy and enjoyable. Rate it 4.25/5

St. elder scroll bundt cake, mascarpone cheese cream, lemon butter ice cream. The lemon butter ice cream was super tangy and it paired so well with the bundt cake. Rate it 4.25/5

Overall rating of thanksgiving menu averages out to 4.3/5.

  1. The Boston Butt is the American name for a cut of pork that comes from the upper part of the shoulder and is usually used for pulled pork. Many thanks for sharing this.
