Short description – in case u r in a hurry:

The restaurant does not have a big signage outside. People not knowing this place might pass by without noticing it.

Interiors of the restaurant r a reminder of the past. High ceilings, tables of 4s and 6s covered with white cloth, framed black and white pictures, all reminded of the past. The pictures were of national leaders and eminent people who had visited this restaurant / tea board functions.

Service was good and efficient but cold. Guys clearly did not enjoy doing what they were doing or someone had shouted on them in the morning.

There is a tea shop in the premises where one can buy the best of teas. The guy at the counter was very proactive and nice. He was not pushy but happily explained different teas & showed us the leaves & exposed us to the different flavors and aromas.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading.

Stuffed omelet with ham and mushroom was outstanding. The omelet had been given a perfect shape that is not done by most any more. The outer layer had become firm and even crisp in some spots and the mid part was moist and yumm. Loved the texture.

Seasoning was perfect and they used good ham. So taste was as good as it cud get.

Loved munching on the omelet and rate it 4.5/5
masala omelet
masala omelet
Masala omelet on the other hand suffered from suboptimal salt and in being a Bland one with none of the ingredients playing any role in spicing up the omelet. Rate it 3/5

We also tried Scone. For the uninitiated , A scone is a single-serving cake or quick bread. They are usually made of wheatbarley or oatmeal. They are often lightly sweetened. It differs from a teacake and other sweet buns, which are made with yeast.

The scone was exactly as described above. It was mildly sweet, not soft, not hard, not brittle. Good accompaniment with mild flavoured Darjeeling tea.

Scone was accompanied with jam and cream.

We had First flush Darjeeling – great subtle tea with flavours. Refreshing. Perfectly brewed – not water like, not too bitter, not astringent. Loved it.

  1. Hi
I can see the bill is for 700/- and service tax applied @ 5.6% on the whole amount, thats 39 rs. But what I have heard that restaurants and hotels can charge service tax on service charge only. Why dont you object them? Just my 2 cents
    Regards

  2. Is this place open now? It was not last year (they kept saying “construction”) – I hope they are, because I used to love this place..
