Short description – in case u r in a hurry:
We read about this restaurant on the social media. History attracts us and so does food. So we got attracted to go to a potential almost 100 yr old shop.

It is actually two shops side by side, with the wall between them still intact. One of them was empty sans a cash counter and the other one was overflowing with food stores everywhere.

There is no place for customers to sit. There was a roof covered area in front of the shop where there were high tables. People wud carry their food from the shop to the table, eat while standing send then go back.

The gentleman on the counter was very helpful in selecting the items. Which ones shud b eaten then and which ones shud b eaten later etc.

There was no separate menu card. It was written on the wall, with pictures.

Food was excellent.

Detailed description – in case u have the time to njoy reading:
Sev khaman was sev sprinkled atop crumbled khaman.

A side was also served along with it. Served warm. Loved it. Rate it 4.25/5

Dahi khaman was excellent – again khaman with curd based ‘Sauce’ , served warm.

Loved it totally. Rate it 4.5/5

We also tried Assorted mini samosa with filling of aloo mashed, dried dal and chana dal.

The cover of all samosas were very thin and very crisp. Really enjoyable.

Aloo filing had mashed potato , masala and chilly. Loved the filling.
Mashed dried dal filling was flavourful and had a dry texture. Loved the taste as well.
Chana dal samosa was full chana dal inside the samosa. Again, really nice.

Rate this dish 4.5/5 in entirety
White dhokla was soft and grainy. Flavours of curry leaves and tempering with mustard added flavour. Rate it 4.25/5

Plain khaman with black pepper was not soft and did not release water ( like most others). It was firm, was made of larger granules. It had retained strong flavours and taste of the dal with which it was made. Black pepper flavour got added. Rate it 4.5/5

The Patra at das khaman was the most disappointing dish during our entire trip to Ahmedabad. We loved the Patra at Swati snacks. The Patra here lacked the flavours of the leaf. It had too much spices in the mid layers and ended up being a stomach filler than being a tastebud delighter. Rate it 2/5.

Khandvi was one of the best we best we have had in a while. It again retained the flavours of its original ingredients. It was super soft. Rate it 4.5/5

Overall rating of food at das khaman averages out to 4.1/5
Will look forward to revisiting…..
