Short description- in case u r in a hurry:

As we reached Chaitanya, we realized it was a shop in a series of shops on that street. The facade had very bold and unmissable branding

It was already 2 pm but there was a long queue outside the entrance. I somehow managed to get in and get my name listed.

As I entered, I realized that the restaurant was beautifully made inside and very well maintained.

It seems that the owner was sitting at the cash counter near the door. She was constantly interacting with the staff members.

The menu card was a 2 pager. A list of dishes written in Marathi and English

The boys serving us were warm and very nice.

Loved the food.

Detailed description- in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Prawn fry was a revelation- we usually feel that any additional coating or too much spices take away from the fresh mumbai prawns. However here the masala And rawa coated prawns were juicy, YUMM, retained the prawn flavours and taste, were soft and had an interesting interplay of textures – crisp outer layer, soft and juicy inside. Rate it 4.5/5

Gaboli fry was outstanding- one of the best fish egg ( fish roe) Indian dishes I have had in months. The roe was soft, retained its flavours and was just too good to taste. The spices and crisp outer layer added a twist to the texture. Loved it and rate it 4.75/5

Pomfret fry again came with a rawa coating. Did not expect but liked it a lot. The dish was fresh, flaky, juicy, YUMM and excellent. RTe it 4.5/5

Chicken liver masala was very enjoyable. It had a grated coconut based gravy. As expected, the chicken liver was super soft and good to taste. The gravy was very enjoyable. Rate it 4.5/5

Mutton sukha had tiny pieces of mutton in a dry gravy that also had coconut in it. Onions made this gravy slightly sweetish. The mutton pieces were badly cut and one could not make out the pieces properly. However the taste was very good. So was the gravy. Rate it 4/5

Kaju usal was a raw kaju (cashew) based dish – the cashews were super soft and YUMM. The gravy was thin and very tasty. Overall very good but we have had way better kaju usal at Marathi friend’s homes. Rate this 4/5

Solkadi (drink made from kokum and coconut milk) was good but did not have the punch. Flavours of kokum was pretty less. It was pretty mellowed down. Rate it 3.5/5

We enjoyed our meal with Bhakri jowar and Bhakri rice

Overall rating of food at Chaitanya averages out to 4.25/5
Wud surely get back to try out more dishes
