Short description- in case u r in a hurry:
We read good things about this restaurant on the social media and decided to pay a visit.
The restaurant is located close to gateway of india in an old building with high ceilings. The interiors are beautifully made. Lack of space has ensured that tables are close to each other – chances are that you will hear the talk on the next table (not a good thing to happen).
The service guys are prompt and good.
The menu card is detailed and very easy to navigate. Description against each item helps make the selection easy.
They have a set menu and a la carte. The set menu looked very very attractive (the sheer variety is wow) but we decide not to go for it as we wanted not to have too much food for dinner.
We had 5 items and all were too good
We got to know that this Restaurant is owned by the same person who owns royal china. Needless to say the passion to serve the best and most authentic shows here as well.
We were in pleasant shock after dining out here . Very highly recommended.
Detailed description- in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
We started our meal with Chilean seabass dumpling. It was a Juicy, flaky and simply outstanding chunk of Chilean seabass with a rice flour casing – loved the sweetness and softness of the casing that complimented the salty fish. Wow. Rate it 4.75/5
Pork cheung fung – thin slices of juicy and super YUMM pork wrapped in a super soft and wonderful rice pancake – our tastebuds were delighted. Rate it 4.5/5
Salmon sashimi – way better than I expected here, buttery ….. excellent. Must mention the unbeatable punch of the wasabi served here and the thick robust Japanese soy. Rate it 4.5/5
For maincourse we had Lobster with truffle butter sauce and egg noodle. We usually do not end up ordering lobster and in 95% + situations we do not order noodles or any carbs. So when My partner suggested this dish, I immediately agreed , with a question in mind. What turned out is that this was probably a brilliant decision.
The dish looked very attractive ( that’s not important to us though) and it tasted unbelievably good. The noodle had perfect texture. The sauce was just outstanding- truffle flavor made a difference. Taste was not the usual. Our tastebuds had a feeling of ecstasy. The lobster was fresh, soft and had perfect texture. Rate the dish 4.75/5
For dessert we had orange tart. We thought it Wud b an orange version of lemon tart. But it turned out to b a rich dark chocolate tart with orange in it ( real fruit). The tart filling was intense and robust. Loved the bitterness balanced with mild sweetness. Just too good. The tart crust was thin and crisp. Rate the dessert 4.5/5
Overall rating of food at jia averages out to a whopping 4.6/5
Wud surely revisit to try their set menu.
