Short description- in case u r in a hurry

We got to know of this restaurant one day while randomly browsing Zomato. Bookmarked it & ended up driving 30 km one way to dine out here.

As we settled down & looked around, we Could not but remember our experience at Sodabottleopenerwala when it first opened in gurgaon – the black & white pictures of Parsi families from a century back, the funny one liners, the chequered floor, yet a lot more premium in its looks.

Loved the flowers on the table & the cartoons on the walls.

There was live music at the restaurant & the guy did a fabulous job.

Loved flipping thru the menu card that was beautifully written & had quirky cartoons. It also had simple description of all food. Every dish had a name of a person associated with it.

The guys serving us were good. Shreyas, the marketing manager of the restaurant was super warm & hospitable. He made a great difference to our experience. He strongly recommended some dishes & those turned out to be very good.

The taste levels of food in general here was more pronounced – slightly more sweet, slightly more sour, slightly more salt, slightly more hot but the enhanced levels balanced each other well. My guess is that someone who eats this food at home, has it one level less robust.

Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:

Mutton kebabs were nice – juicy inside, very good to taste, good flavors of meat & spices – the latter slightly overpowering the former. The outer layer was thin – crumb fried. Rate it 4/5

Patrani macchi (fish wrapped & cooked inside a leaf) was outstanding. It was better than what we have had at sodabottleopenerwala, Britannia, Jimmy boy & also at Rustom’s, but a few notches lower than Parsi anjuman. The pomfret was super fresh – flaky, juicy , perfectly cooked. The green paste was robust, rustic & had excellent balance of sweet, sour, chilly & salt. Like mentioned above, each of these were a tad more but the balance was excellent. Licked off the gravy till the last drop. Rate it 4.75/5

Mutton dhansak was very good. It had super soft pieces of mutton, cooked in daal. This was as good as we have had in any of the Parsi restaurants mentioned above. We njoy Ed these with Parsi brown rice. Rate it 4.5/5

Mutton Berry pulao was excellent – it had long, aromatic, Independent grains of rice pulao with super tangy berries in it. Loved it. The browned onions on top added zing. The curried mutton was very soft & good to eat. Rate it 4.5/5

We had Sev with meethu dahi for dessert. As soon as I tasted the sweet curd, I rightly guessed that this was from Parsi dairy. The sev tasted very good but after seeing the pics of sev in my insta post, all my Parsi friends pointed out that it looked very pale. Loved the combination. Rate it 4.25/5

Overall rating of food averages out to 4.4/5

Look forward to tasting more dishes here.
