Short description- in case u r in a hurry
This was our first breakfast experience outside home post COVID lockdown. While the food was excellent, the ambience made a difference to us for the first time. We were always only focused on good food but this time we paid a lot more attention to the overall experience – maybe we appreciate being able to go out more.
The restaurant is situated inside the oberoi gurugram. As we alighted from our vehicle, a guy in uniform came for valet parking. I handed over the keys & the car. He just gave me a paper token in the old fashioned way & I was relieved. I had quite a wierd experience at spectra , leela ambience, the day before.
As we entered the hotel we were asked to put all our metal belongings in a tray and pass through the security so that there is no need for physical patting and checking. The guys used the normal temperature gun to get our temperature. No fancy gadget.
After this, when we moved on to the restaurant, it was 9 am and the restaurant (which nowadays opens at 9 am & shuts at 9 pm) had no guests yet. By the time we were leaving after 1030am , there were 9 tables full out of approx 18. We were told that there is a cap of 50 diners, after which the rest have to be refused. Infact, earlier in the week it seems they had to refuse entry to guests once.
The other restaurants In the hotel were not opened since beginning of lockdown.
Our server was good and efficient. It was good to see moulded good quality face shields being given to the staff, rather than the low quality plastic sheet ones that most people are using.
The cutlery was kept in a pack, like it is given in business class of many full service airlines.
As we sat, we noticed that a tablet was placed on the table, with a QR code on the screen. We had to scan from the camera of our phone. immediately as we scanned the code, a link appeared and it had the entire menu of all the restaurants in the hotel. The E-menu was Crisp and very very easy to navigate through. it was very user-friendly, I must say. There was another QR code for touch free payment also, thru customer’s phone.
The final check came in electronic form as well.
Thankfully, inside the restaurant we could takeoff our masks because the tables are apart anyway and due to low occupancy people were seated far from each other. We were however given a paper tablemat to keep our masks on!!
The high ceilings, natural light, a beautifully maintained water body outside the huge glass walls, soothing music – all contributed to a great ambience & a good breakfast to start.
Totally loved the breakfast
Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
French toast with honey glazed ham & cheddar was mind blowing good. The thick slice of ham in the middle was lovely, the super soft sweetish bread cover on both side was YUMM. Most importantly the overall bite was awesome. Added some liquid butter to top up the pleasure. Rate it 4.75/5
Wild mushrooms with truffle cream on toasted brioche was a great dish. Crisp toast at the base & strong truffle flavoured topping of wild mushrooms. The truffle was super flavorful & enjoyable but it killed the wild mushroom flavors , if any. Rate it 4.25/5

After European beginnings, we tried Japanese breakfast set menu.
It had Fried salmon & Miso soup.
Simple fried salmon with skin – try asked us rare / medium. We said medium. Regret it now. Should have had it rare / medium rare. The fish was juicy & flaky but had been cooked a bit more than we wud hv liked. Rate the dish 4/5
Miso soup came with sticky rice. Absolutely loved the soup. Finished it till the last drop. Rate it 4.5/5
Overall rating averages out to 4.3/5
Loved being here once again.
