Short description- in case u r in a hurry
We got to know of Ms. Bajpai thru my friend Aarti. She had great recommendations to make – ‘Sending you all Menu for Arq- the old fashioned cooking by Anamika Bajpai. She is a celebrated Gurgaon foodie and recently has started her own home catering venture. Typical Awadhi cuisine – full of fragrance and flavours. The food is amazing. Must try.’
So we decided to give it a shot over the weekend. We whatsapped & did an enquiry for Sunday. Ms. Bajpai called back & said we could order from 1st july onwards or we could tag on to what she already had bookings for. We chose the latter option.
We chose from what she was cooking on Sunday. We soon got an invoice from her on WhatsApp. As per policy, we paid 100% in advance, to confirm the order for the food.
Ms. Bajpai informed us that the person who would deliver was new. So she requested to be a bit patient with the guy. We appreciated the honesty.
Loved the food. Looking forward to reorder some other dishes in the weeks to come.
Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
We were impressed that she had a Very focussed menu & the fact that she did not care about frivolous add ons like extra chutney, powdered masala, raita etc etc.
Reshe wali shammi was excellent. It did not fit the description of the typical shammi. This shammi was packed with meat & only meat, as if the daal used for binding had been wished away. The texture was not brittle but it was full of ‘reshe’ fine fibers of meat. The kababs arrived hot & were a feast. The fat content was way lower than what is found in typical shammis. That made it slightly less juicier I guess. The flavors were brilliant – predominantly meats, followed by spices. Loved the aftertaste of chillies. Rate it 4.75/5
Khade masale ka gosht was excellent. Some of the khada masalas that made their presence felt individually were clove, pepper, star anise, cardamom. Overall flavor of the gravy was excellent – meat & spice flavored complimented each other beautifully. There was a tinge of sweetness due to onions. There was a bit of extra oil by home standards, but way less than any restaurant food. The meat pieces were very good. Rate it 4.5/5
We had also Ordered Mutton Yakhni pulao. This pulao had independent strands of soft, aromatic, long grain rice that had a tinge of sourness that was enjoyable. The balance of seasoning was perfect. The meat pieces were falling off the bones. Perfect texture & very good to taste. Rate it 4.25/5
Overall rating of food averages out to 4.5/5
Look forward to ordering the mutton boti & some other interesting dishes on another day.
