Short description- in case u r in a hurry:
We were hungry in R City mall and were looking for dinner options and this popped up. So we reached the restaurant to find there was waiting for ’15 minutes’. We were happy to get a seat in 5.
The service boys were nice people, very friendly, warm and good. However the flow of service had a problem – unlike in a western classical music concert, there was no ‘conductor’. Good busy restaurants usually have a supervisor who roams around the floor and constantly looks after the needs of the guests.
The interiors were done beautifully- hats off to the person who designed this place. Great attention to detail on the theme. From themed lamp shades, a real tubewell, lamps, dholak, Bollywood posters etc. to mud wall finish.
Wud hv loved this restaurant more if it had appointed a chef as good as the architect. The chain has about 7 (as per zomato) branches which means it is popular. A great kitchen team can ensure the 7 becoming 70 but if it continues the way it is, it Wud the beginning of the fall.
The menu card was very attractive visually. It just had a list of food items without any descriptions.
Detailed description- in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
We heard that the restaurant serves good tandoori chicken. So we went for it.
Tandoori murg was not juicy, was over burnt, blacked out in certain areas, somewhat soft and good to taste. Ratio of masalas was good – not too mild, not too much n the face. Seasoning was good.
Texture gets 0/5, flavours get 3/5 and taste gets 3/5. Rating for the dish averages out to 2/5.
Mutton seekh kabab was a disaster – I left out after first 2 bites. Absolutely not juicy, not soft, dry, brittle and average to taste. Worst I have had in a long time. Rate it 1/5
Paaye (goat trotters) da shorba (soup) was nice. It was refreshing, full of flavours and very enjoyable. Flavours of paaya was very nice. Rate it 4.25/5
Masala chhas was very good. It tasted very good though it was more like a salted lassi than a chaas- thick. Rate it 3.5/5
Tadkewali daal was good to taste as well. It was thick, had flavours of ghee and spices from the tadka. Rate it 3/5
Jalebi was crisp, had a good balance of sweet and sour and was very good to taste. Rate it 4.25/5
Overall rating of food at urban tadka averages out to 3/5
Wud unlikely ho bk there.
