Short description- in case u r in a hurry:
We had read about this restaurant in a blog while doing our internet research on madikeri. So decided to drop in.
The timing was surely not good as we got delayed onway to madikeri – so instead of getting to eat lunch here we had to eat lunch onway. Home cooked local Dinner awaited us at Gowri nivas.
The only option was to try some snacks here and get the flavor of the place.
The restaurant was quite empty in the evening but people were constantly coming here and getting food packed and going back. We were told that at lunch and dinner time the restaurant overflows with customers.
The guy serving us told us that they were known for their meat and fish dishes in addition to banana vada. He was very warm and helped us patiently to choose our food.
The restaurant was neat and clean and seemed to be renovated some time back. It still managed to keep its retro look.
Detailed description- in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
We tried mackerel fry. The fish was marinated with local spices. The beauty of the dish was that the fish retained the fish flavor and the spices flavor very well – no oneupmanship.
The fish was juicy inside – loved it. It was charred on the outside. Optimally Burnt marinade on the outer layer was wonderful. Floored. We were seen finger licking by our neighbouring table!!!! Rate the dish 4.75/5.
We asked for a mutton dish but they did not have any dry mutton dish that cud b had as a snack. Even the mutton Sukka (dry) , we ere told, is not dry (it had gravy). So with no option left we ordered chicken 65.
We were pleasantly surprised at the chatpata, optimally seasoned, juicy and soft YUMM chicken pieces. One of the best chicken 65 we have ever had. Loved it. Rate it 4.5/5
We decided not to eat any more here in anticipation of a wow dinner.
Rating of food here mathematically averages out to 4.6/5. Wud however mention that it’s a bit inflated due to too little number of dishes. An average of 4 dishes gives a good perspective.
Wud definitely want to get back Here to try out the entire menu.
Sir you must visit Hotel Paris @Thalessery for its Fish Biryani and Thalessery itself for Mussels and while you are there the chicken Biryani at Kannur Ralway station
Interesting. Thanks:) next time …..
