Short description- in case u r in a hurry
We were in kolkata & we had decided to explore beef dishes at different eateries in kolkata – from roadside to 5 star & mughlai to continental.

Read about our previous experiences here – three sixty three degrees, Zamzam, waterside cafe.
We have been to multiple indigo restaurants in mumbai (indigo originated there) on multiple occasions. We have always found them to be serious about the food & we have had good experiences in both classics & fusion at Indigo.
So when our friend suggested that we meet for dinner at indigo, we immediately agreed. When he told us that indigo served good beef dishes, we jumped in.

The restaurant is located on a top floor in quest mall, not in the area where people casually walk past. So I assume people who know about indigo make efforts to go there rather than walk-in’s by unaware passersby.
The interiors are warm & premium. I particularly loved the high ceilings, the colorful tiles on the floor & the old world wood furniture & pillars.

The menu card was detailed – very good description of each item, leaving less to imagination.

The gentleman serving us was warm & nice. He seemed a bit bewildered though that 5 people are ordering this much only – little did he know that this was our third eat-out of the day!!!

Loved the food. After the end of the meal we requested to meet the chef in person – to tell him that the tenderloin steak served by him was the best that we had in the week, beating the one at three sixty three degrees & also the one at waterside cafe.
Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
Tenderloin & pickled shallots thin crust pizza – I was pleasantly shocked to see this on the menu. Don’t remember too many places in india that serve this dish.

The base was super thin, crisp & excellent. The thin tenderloin pieces were just too juicy, had a robust meaty flavor & outstanding.

Overall it was a revelation. Rate this pizza 4.75/5

Medium rare tenderloin burger was excellent. The bun was baked in-house I guess. The patty was juicy, not like a paste but lumpy & had great meaty flavors. There was minimal sauces / fillers & it was a real good one. Rate it 4.25/5

Tender medallions with marrow with mashed potatoes – wah. The best steak of the week. Like I mentioned, better than both the 5 star restaurants we went to eat steak in that week!!!!

We requested for medium rare & the steaks were just that. Juicy, great meaty flavors & the perfect taste. No distractions of flavors or taste. Rate it 4.5/5

We all liked the Cheesecake of the day, inspite of having two cheesecake police among us (very finicky about good cheesecake). This one passed the test with all. Rate it 4.5/5

Overall rating of food at indigo delicatessen averages out to 4.5/5
Will revisit on our next trip to try more items where they use local ingredients.
Thanks Yummraj for a great post, as always. Am meeting up with an old friend at Quest Mall next weekend for lunch. Was wondering where to go – you have just solved that problem. A couple of questions though. Are they licensed and do they have pork dishes on the menu? Cheers
Hi , thank you. Yes I remember seeing bacon on the menu as well. Pork dish – I don’t remember particularly:)
